Bob of Edmonton, Canada, installed a Stinger-Plus system on a ’99 5.9L Cummins turbo-diesel
I had this system installed at a shop two days before I was to pull a huge (17,000+lbs) trailer out to British Columbia for a client. I pulled this trailer before (approx. 13,000 lbs) but not with as much gear packed. I did struggle (having to shift down to 4th) over some of the larger mountains along my route. I was achieving about 15 MPG pulling that load before.
I
tell ya that system just woke up that Cummins, it sounds
awesome and my temperature gauge sits about 100 degrees
cooler. I pulled that trailer like it wasn't even there,
the same mountain that made me shift down to 4th before.
The Cummins pulled strong three quarters of the way
up the grade in 6th, started losing steam but I wanted
to watch what Banks Power could do and left it in 6th
gear. My truck was like a steam locomotive—the RPM dropped to 1900 but just kept going, the temperature gauges rose only slightly, not enough to worry about. I got to the summit, pulled over to check out the underhood heat. Opened the hood and nothing unusual. I walked back to the exhaust tip to see the mud that was on the tip smoking and flicked some off with my foot to find it was charred.
All
this proved to me that Banks Power saved my truck from
imminent disaster. I probably would have heated up
so bad that it would have cooked something but would
not have [been] immediately evident, or worse yet,
overheated and left me there. I feel the Banks System
allowed the extremely hot exhaust gases to escape fast
and bring in a higher volume of cooler air. Plus my
mileage jumped to 18 MPG for that trip towing a much
heavier trailer. I get on average 22 MPG with my truck
empty.
All
this Thanks To Gale Banks Engineering.
I
am looking at buying an '06 Dodge and "Banksing" that truck as well with the "Six- Gun Tuner."
