The
AREX, a Banks project vehicle, is born.
"The
AREX, which stands for American Roadster Experimental,
was developed by designer David Stollery and Gale Banks
Engineering. With a curb weight of only 2600 lbs, its
twin-turbocharged, 585-hp engine with five-speed trans-axle,
launches this speed demon from 0 to 60 in just 3.4
seconds. If you can afford a bigger speeding ticket,
the Banks twin-turbo TPI 5.7L Chevy engine takes you
from 0 to 100 in just 6.1 seconds, and takes the quarter
mile in 10.8 seconds at a heart-stopping 143 mph." Platinum
"This
road rocket can rip the hair from your head." Hot
