Every
successful racing endeavor is based on preparation.
See the Cummins turbo-diesel on the dyno, along with
the modifications that made over 700 HP possible. Look
at the trial fitting of the engine, and the body and
chassis work that was required to make the Worlds
First Diesel Sport Truck.
Most
Bonneville race vehicles arrive on a trailer not
Project Sidewinder. It arrived pulling a trailer loaded
with its pit equipment and spare parts. This is a true
sports truck capable of utility as well as performance.
Its even capable of towing one of its competitors!
Watch the Sidewinder in action, with commentary by
Gale Banks.
The
Project Sidewinder was highway driven to the Salt Flats
towing a trailer. Preparation for its record setting
runs involved little more than unhooking the trailer
and swapping race tires and wheels in place of the
street tires and wheels. To go even faster, the rearend
gearing was changed. Commentary by Gale Banks.

Talking
is easy; going over 200 MPH in a stock-bodied pickup
is another matter all together. See the Project Sidewinder
at speeds over 220 MPH with driver Don Alexander steering
with only one hand, and watch the speedometer needle
go off the scale!
