Why You Need It

The Ram-Air intake system for the 2025-26 Duramax 6.6L helps the engine produce horsepower at lower RPM, sharpens turbo response, and improves fuel economy by improving air mass flow to the turbo. This is made possible by our patented electronics. Meanwhile, all competitors must retain near stock airflow or risk setting a check engine light.

Why It's Better

  • Only intake that improves mass air flow over stock
  • Improves turbo response
  • Improves fuel economy
  • Massive filter extends service life, fewer cleanings
  • Housing keeps out hot air
  • Housing increases air volume around filter
  • Connects to OEM hood scoop
  • Rubber elbow allow for engine movement
  • Increased turbo sound, no drone
  • Oiled or dry high efficiency filter
  • No check engine light
  • Includes Banks Air Mass Control Module
  • Includes Banks Crankcase Ventilation Control Module
  • U.S. Patent 11,193,441

Helps engine produce horsepower at lower RPM

Thanks to a 45% reduction in pressure loss over the stock intake, air mass is increased into the turbo inlet. This denser air makes the turbo's job easier. Turbo lag is reduced and boost comes on sooner, widening the engine's working RPM range.

Wheel Torque

Not only does power come on sooner with the Ram-Air intake, but the turbo spins nearly 3,000 RPM slower increasing its efficiency and longevity. Turbo life is increased because it’s spinning millions of revolutions less over its lifetime.

Patented Electronics

The ECM (Engine Control Module) in your 2025-26 Duramax monitors air mass and pressure so closely that any deviation from stock results in a check engine light. The truck's ultra-stringent ECM even monitors variations in crankcase ventilation pressure as another trigger for a trouble code. To overcome these new limitations, we employ our patented Banks Air Mass Control Module, which corrects for the increase in mass air flow to the turbo's compressor. 2025 Air Mass Control Module

The Banks Crankcase Ventilation Control Module is a patented electronic device designed to work with the Banks Air Mass Control Module. Developed in-house and manufactured locally, the Crankcase Ventilation Control Module allows for modifications to the intake system without triggering diagnostic trouble codes like P04DB (Crankcase Vent System Disconnected) or related check engine lights and reduced engine power modes that plague other aftermarket intakes systems.

Late-model 2025+ Duramax trucks feature ultra-stringent ECM oversight of crankcase pressure, ventilation flow, and blow-by gases via integrated sensors in the CCV system. Any non-stock alteration—like rerouting for better oil separation, increased ventilation capacity to handle higher boost/performance, or integration with high-flow intakes—risks the ECM detecting "out-of-range" pressure or flow deviations. These deviations result in a check engine light to protect emissions compliance.

Massive Airflow

In other words, all other competitive intakes must flow within a narrow airflow window near stock levels past the Mass Air Flow sensor, whereas these stock airflow design constraints do not limit us.

Unrivaled Size and Capacity

The all-new Ram-Air cold air intake system's large organic shape eliminates all restrictions and turbulence to the turbo. The radical new design allows for a massive 58% gain in Mass Air Flow over the stock system.

The oversized filter has greater dust capacity giving you more miles between services and flows freely long after stock and competitors are clogged with debris.

The huge filter outlet smoothly tapers down providing the highest gains in air density.

Your Stock Intake is Restrictive

The Duramax OEM air filter housing is a bulky multi-piece design with harsh bends, corners and is designed for dust collection, not performance. The air path is compromised by resonators and silencers in an effort to keep noise at a minimum.

While the factory design does have inlets that mate to the hood's air scoop, its square filter and S-shaped flow path induces turbulence and drag to the intake system lowering Mass Air Flow.

The Devil's in the Details

The new Banks Ram-Air system features a durable heat-resistant Cross-Linked Polyethylene enclosure with a smooth organic shape that maximizes cool air volume around the filter and maintains air density into the box itself.

The top hood scoop duct now dumps directly into the airbox chamber, improving the ram-air effect at speed.

A side fender inlet away from engine heat further lowers the pressure drop in the system while also letting you hear your turbo better

Exclusive Bellows Free Performance

Standard factory style bellows induce drag to the intake. This added turbulence affects the boundary layer on the inside of the intake reducing the effective diameter for air to flow through.

Banks' huge tapering intake elbow with exclusive bellows slide over the Banks Super-Tube allowing for free engine movement and unobstructed airflow into the turbo.

The elbow is made from EPDM synthetic rubber instead of silicone for greater environmental resistance and strength against damage or collapse under vacuum.

Air Mass Matters

The greater the air mass entering your engine, the less fuel your engine will consume. That also means less engine heat going into the engine oil and coolant system since it is working less hard to make the same horsepower. In other words, improved fuel economy and less stress on the engine itself!

Yes, airflow (CFM) is important, but if the system flows more air, and that air is hot, you'll likely see a loss in horsepower and more stress on your engine.

Pressurized, cool, dense air is the winning combination. To learn more about air density, see this article.

A Big Filter — Engineered Right

The Banks Super-Tube fits perfectly over the top of the filter which has an integrated collar to smoothly transition airflow from the air box and into the turbo with the lowest resistance and drag.

The massive filter sits angled down in the air box to discourage dirt and debris from getting wedged between the pleats and Its massive51in2filter outlet Filter has overtwicethe airflow area of any competitor.

Bigger is Better When Properly Engineered

While other brands go for bragging rights for the "biggest" by cramming more pleats into their filters, they end up designing one that gets clogged faster and flows less air.

Just having a big looking filter, does not mean it will perform the best.

Banks massive filter has an optimized ratio of filter surface area, pleat count, and media thickness allowing it to outflow every other filter tested while breathing evenly from all sides. Banks wins again.

Game changer

"Ordered and installed this on my 2026 Sierra 2500 as soon as it became available, and it's a game changer. The install was super easy, and the results were immediate. Throttle response improved instantly. The engine can finally breathe. I've installed just about every CAI on the market over the years, and the Banks is hands down the best one I've ever put on a truck."

Ken M. (5/5)

Love the sound, easy to install

"Well it's finally here, had the truck almost a year and was excited to install this monster. . . great construction and straight forward on the install, after disconnecting the batteries. The sound awesome with min throttle input already see mpg's climbing with increased response. feed back- slight mod needed on the lower box , sized the hole from shipped to a 3/4 ( with varibit) then installed grommet fairly easy. filter gasket slightly oversized and almost pushed out the top but tucked back in. excited for the miles"

J (4/5)

Banks ram intake

"I finally got around to installing the Banks Monster exhaust and intake, and all I can say is wow — it completely woke my truck up. The sound is incredible, and I love being able to hear that deep rumble in the cab. I’m running the Banks PedalMonster and High Output Derringer on my 2025 GMC L5P, and the difference is unreal. The power, throttle response, and overall driving experience are on another level with all these upgrades. Honestly, I feel like a kid again every time I drive it. I also have the Banks oil pan ready to install this week, and after seeing the quality of everything else, I’m excited for that upgrade too. Most importantly, Jay and the entire Banks team go above and beyond for their customers. Their customer service is truly unmatched, and they’ve been nothing but helpful anytime I’ve had a question or needed support. Top-notch products backed by top-notch people."

Ryan J. (5/5)

2025 Duramax 13,500 miles

"My package was missing part number 12. Banks shipped it out fast. Great customer service. Installed in 10 min. Took truck for a test drive. I like it. I will be ordering the turbo inlet and larger piping next"

Justin (5/5)

Low end torque has arrived

"Waited patiently for the right intake for my 2026 gmc sierra 2500 and glad I did. The missing low end torque is here. Paired with my derringer and pedal monster its a beast. Well done Banks. Well done."

Luis R. (5/5)

Pretty good product

"I was a little nervous with the sound as the 2025 Chevy 2500 diesel is my everyday driver and work vehicle. The sound is not bad at all, a little more noticeable when you first get on the throttle and a little more noise when the exhaust brake is engaged, sounds like a diesel truck. If your truck has high idle, its pretty loud outside the truck, not much over stock in the cabin. I noticed maybe 1-3 mpg on the highway at 70MPH, maybe 2-4 at 55MPH. The fit and finish are darn near perfect, I had to do a little negotiation l to get the cover back in place on the passenger side battery. The A/C lines on my truck also needed some negotiation. No check engine lights after an extended test drive which is a huge plus!"

patrick (4/5)

2026 AEV AT4x

"Put this in my 2026 AT4x AEV over the weekend. Everything went together great, minimal massaging on the AC line near the turbo inlet. I did question the MAF fitment a bit, as it seemed to not sit down far enough in the intake tube. Banks called me on a SUNDAY and assured me that it is fine. Great customer service. Performance notes- I get a bit more hissing from the turbo with the windows down and a deep tone when I let off the throttle. It is not super loud - but does sound better. Shifts feel a bit smoother between gears - this could be in my head though? The power just feels good - coupled with my Pedal Monster / iDash setup to monitor. MPG to work improved today by 2. 9mpg. Same route, traffic, cruise control speed, etc. I never got over an 18. 5 on that route before and hit 21. 4 when I pulled into the parking lot today. I will have to hand calculate as I am unsure if the MAF piggyback with this intake kit is skewing some of those numbers. Overall, I am very happy. The intake is MASSIVE and really cleans up the rest of the engine bay."

Brian G. (5/5)

Major Improvement

"Just put on my 2025 silverado 2500 and what a difference in throttle response. Truck sounds much better now, can actually hear the turbo. Cleans the engine bay up as well. Excited to see the fuel savings. Very happy with it. This is coupled with the banks turbo inlet pipe."

Thomas I. (5/5)

It actually works as described

"I purchased the Banks Ram Air on the first day it was released after waiting months for its launch, and it has proven to be a worthwhile investment. Since installing it, I’ve noticed noticeably smoother acceleration along with an increase of approximately 3–4 miles per gallon in fuel economy."

Ram-Air Cold Intake for 2026 GMC 2500 6. 6L L5P

"Ordered the Ram-Air Cold Intake for 2026 GMC 2500 6. 6L Duramax L5P the day it became available. The YouTube video explaining the install steps made installing very easy. Took it out for a 90 min test drive. What I noticed right away was how smooth the engine sounded as I drove through my area to get out on the freeway. Stepping on it as I was exiting the freeway on-ramp getting up to 75 mph was smooth and effortless. So far very pleased with the overall ordering process, install, and the high quality of this product."

Q&A

Just bought a 2026 Silverado 2500 HD diesel. Do you know if this ram air will void the manufacturer warranty? Or, should I check with the service department at the dealership where I bought the truck? Would really love to install this on my new truck Thanks
The stance on aftermarket parts varies widely from dealer to dealer. This is why we suggest consulting with your dealer to learn how they choose to enforce manufacturer warranty policies. Generally speaking, there are three types of dealerships. 1. Dealers that embrace and install performance upgrades. 2. Dealers who will overlook an aftermarket part because they know it's harmless. 3. Dealers who are militant about aftermarket accessories and will deny a warranty. You'll find dealers across the US and Canada that sell and Banks products. You'll also find dealerships that will encourage you to keep the vehicle stock.
When do you think team Banks might now when they'll have an eta on the Ram-Air release? I'm really excited about being back in diesel truck and I want to upgrade as quick as possible. Team Banks provides a FAR superior product than the competition.

What is the difference between the 2024 and the 2025 intake for the Duramax is it the design and how it fits inside the truck or is it the mass airflow sensor that you guys developed that is different?
GM added a PCV sensor for the '25 model year. It has to do with ever-tightening emissions. The forthcoming Ram-Air Intake for the '25 will include both the Banks Air Mass Control Module which plugs into the MAF sensor, and a PCV sensor module. These modules are what allows us to flow greater air mass. Meanwhile, all other intake brands are stuck with stock airflow.
