Specifications

Banks Ram-Air Superiority: This is no filter-on-a-stick!

The Ram-Air is an extensively tested and validated cold-air intake system designed to inhale cooler denser outside air. Its unique design features a fully enclosed and sealed housing to keep out hot power-robbing engine air. This allows the engine to run cooler and cleaner, while improving power, fuel economy, while reducing EGTs!

Its giant filter flows more freely than the factory's highly dense paper filter, and the aerodynamic internal shape eliminates restrictions to improve air flow by 26%!

The filter is reusable and easy to install or access for monitoring and cleaning. By comparison, the stock filter is difficult to access, not reusable, and when dirty the whole expensive unit has to be replaced. Unit is triple validated before the name Banks is stamped on. We test, the other guys don't. That's the Banks difference!

Works seamlessly with stock sensors to not generate trouble codes and accommodates engine movement for greater durability.

Reviews

Strong up a long slope

"You know just to be honest I can’t know for sure if the engine is breathing better. I did have to romp on it the other day pulling my dump trailer loaded with shingles and have to say I do believe it had a little more pick me up. It responded quick and got me up a long slop. And so I was able hear and feel the engine loaded up. And it sounded clean and strong. But then again I’m byass because I believe Gale Banks can do no wrong."

Phil B. (5/5)

This product was simple to

"This product was simple to install, fit was right on. Upon driving my truck, the vehicle had a quicker response with the throttle. Seems to have less time with the turbo spooling up. I have to wait and see if the milage increases."

Robert H. (5/5)

Easy installation

"2011 6. 7. Took about 20 minutes to install. Instructions ok but photos need work. Some don’t show the item described in the text. I would like to see an attachment point for the wire loom for the MAS. Had to tie wrap it to an a/c charge tube. No noticeable noise increase from turbo. Would recommend to others 👍"

Scott J. (5/5)

Nice!

"I expect it to be good and it is. As always!"

Bruce D. (5/5)

Great response and mpg but

"Instructions weren’t clear enough about the 2 maf screws. I reused the originals, backed out 1 and installed 1 but stripped the other. And can’t get it out. . hope the 1 screw holds."

Gary R. (5/5)

Great product

"Works great, looks great and super easy installation"

Tyler C. (5/5)

perfect

"Very clean installation . Noticed better acceleration at same part throttle. Im not a hotrodder but want my truck engine running as efficiently as possible."

Garry B. (5/5)

Ram air intake

"Got the intake in a nicely package box, and overall I’m pleased with my order however, I never received my pre filter I ordered with my intake. Which sucks, cause I certainly paid for it"

ANDRE R. (5/5)

Banks Ram Air

"Love watching Gale review other products and test them. Banks is the real deal and makes great products that backs up with real data. Not fluff like the others. Easy to install intake, great quality. Fits well."

Christopher L. (5/5)

Ram Air. Great Buy

"I have a 6.7 diesel. Install was easier than reading the instructions. Next is I Dash and Derringer. How about a senior discount!!"

Q&A

Hi, how does this cold air intake get 26% more flow without throwing an error code via MAF sensor
We spend a lot of time researching different designs and sensor placement to improve airflow while not impeding the sensor calibration.
What are the pros and cons of oiled versus dry filters ?
We generally recommend the oiled (red) filters over dry (grey) for two reasons. One, slightly better flow characteristics. They are somewhat thinner, more robust filter material for the oil and can grab more debris. Two, the service life. The oiled (red) filter can go up to 30k-40k miles before it has to be serviced (dry is about 25k miles). Either filter will last until about 100k miles.
What sort of percentage gain in fuel economy would one expect?
It will vary based on driving habits, environment, and the vehicle installed.
