Proven Power

Gale Banks has been designing turbocharged engines and intake systems for over 60 years. Long before he pioneered Diesel performance, Gale was the expert in forced induction gas engines. The new Tacoma intake system marks a return to his roots. The new Ram-Air intake delivers 18.3 horsepower and improved throttle response you can feel, all from a simple bolt-on system.

Thanks to a reduction in pressure loss over the stock intake, air mass is increased into the turbo inlet. This denser air makes the turbo's job easier. Turbo lag is reduced and boost comes on sooner, widening the engine's working RPM range.

Unrestricted Airflow Performance

The Banks Ram-Air Intake for your Tacoma is able to reach your engines peak Mass Air Flow demands with 45% lower pressure loss compared to stock. This MAF gain of 8 lb/min means your turbo works less hard, generates less heat, and spools up faster resulting in improved throttle resposne you can feel.

The Ram-Air Effect

Taking advantage of the fast-moving air hitting the nose of the truck, the Banks Ram-Air effectively supercharges your turbo.

As air density inside the Ram-Air intake increases with vehicle velocity, it reduces turbo's workload. In other words, the turbo will make the same boost at a lower shaft speed. This results in improved throttle response and longer turbo life.

Massive Filter Sized Right

The massive Ram-Air filter extends service intervals by collecting more dust within its deep pleats before causing restriction. Greater filtration surface area increases the dirt load the filter can take, which allows the Banks Ram-Air to continue performing long after other smaller filters become filled with contaminants. 2024+ Tacoma intake filter size comparison
Banks Ram-Air Filter and its massive size

Air filter housing volume has been optimized to ensure the incoming ram-air is evenly distributed around the filter and prevent housing choke from limiting airflow into the filter. This maximizes compressor efficiency while fully utilizes the entire filter medium for dust collection.

Massive Intake Tube Optimizes Flow

The Banks intake tube features a NASA-inspired low pressure loss duct bend. It also maintains the full 78.54 square-inch cross-sectional area of the filter outlet. Competitive intake system have small filter outlets, choking airflow back to stock or worse.
Tacoma Ram-Air intake Cobra Inlet

The intake tube's smooth change in both shape and direction avoids the harsh 90° bends found in other designs. This helps maintain intake air velocity by preventing boundary layer separation and drag which effectively reduces the flow diameter of the tube and causes pressure loss.

My 2 cents on the Banks Ram Air Intake — after abo

"No noticeable power gain so far after 150miles of driving. Interestingly, the intake and turbo noise is actually quieter than stock with the factory air filter. I haven't put enough miles on it yet to have real MPG data. It looks good under the hood, I'll give it that."

Jeff (1/5)

Gen4 Tacoma

"The Banks intake is the real deal. Fit & finish is top notch, and install is about a half hour. Sounds amazing with breather cap off also 👌💨 Highly recommend 👍"

Ian M. (5/5)

Great intake setup!

"The air intake system was a very simple install! The boost tubes were a bit more difficult, but still not bad. I noticed that I do have more power in my 2025 Tacoma not to mention about a 2-5 mpg increase in fuel economy. I would highly recommend this system to anyone looking for a little power upgrade not to mention fuel efficiency."

Mark (5/5)

Sixth Gen 4Runner intake

"Noticeable power increase and I can hear some turbo music. Install was easy and part quality and fit are as good as factory. Highly recommend. As advertised, no codes."

Tony T. (5/5)

Superb Product

"It’s exactly what you would expect from Banks. Low end power is where I’m finding my gains. Very little shifting during hill climbs."

Bradley R. (5/5)

A great product and great customer service!!!!

"Made my 2025 Tacoma come alive, with better throttle response and better MPG around town. I'm glad I got the Banks than the unknown brand"

Power

"Just installed my banks air intake today and took truck for a drive. Definitely feel the difference in power. Thank you Banks! have to wait to see gas mileage numbers."

Dustin T. (5/5)

The Additional Power is Real!

"Absolutely Worth the Wait — But Read This Before You Install After a two-month wait, I can confidently say this product delivers. The performance improvement is real and immediately noticeable — stronger horsepower and torque off the line, and the engine genuinely feels smoother overall. No complaints there whatsoever. Installation is straightforward for the most part, and everything fits perfectly on my 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road. However, don't believe the "30-minute install" claims floating around YouTube — mine took well over an hour. The culprit? A specific clip attached to the filter housing that Banks never mentions in their instructions. This clip secures the mass air flow sensor harness wiring, and figuring out how to release it without breaking anything is genuinely frustrating. A heads-up in the manual would go a long way. One other thing to know: at least two popular YouTube installs skip over the snorkel opening on the Banks Ram Air Housing and the Fender Inlet Seal cover. Banks' instructions are clear — cover the opening unless you're running a snorkel. I covered mine and still get a satisfying increase in turbo spool and induction noise. It's noticeable, though if you're chasing a dramatic sound upgrade, temper your expectations slightly. Bottom line: the performance gains are real, the fit and finish are excellent, and the wait is worth it. Just go in with realistic expectations on install time and do your homework on that harness clip. You won't be disappointed."

Mileage went up a little

"Mileage went up a little and I’m sure it would have gone up more, if I didn’t put my foot into it so often, but it sounds so good!"

Q&A

Hi - Will you be making this for the Trailhunter trim? ETA?
Trailhunter version can be found here: https://bankspower.com/products/ram-air-intake-system-42292-toyota-tacoma-2-4l-trd-pro-trailhunter?variant=45227085234373
What's the efficiency for this intake in both oiled and dry versions?
Filter efficiency for the oiled filter is 99.25%. At this time, we do not offer a dry filter for this application. We have chosen to offer only the an oiled filter because of its superior air mass flow and filtration, without clogging the MAF sensor with oil.
Has Banks made the change on the Ram-Air cold air intake version for 2025 4Runners to address the issue of the corner of the air intake clip / rivet hole (4'o clock position) that didn't line up with anything?
The Ram-Air Intake ships with the new molded rubber inlet designed for both Tacoma and 4Runner. The 4 o'clock position hole lines up as it should. Pull the trigger. You'll love it!
Does Banks offer a dry filter as an alternative to the oiled filter for the Ram-Air? I've read that oiled filters can cause the Check Engine Light (CEL) and damage or foul MAF sensors, especially if the filter is not re-oiled properly after cleaning. If a dry filter is an option offered, how do I order the Ram-Air with a dry filter for my 2025 4Runner 2.4L Hybrid?
We only recommend a oiled filter solution for Toyota vehicles as its far superior for dust collection. We have used oiled filters on a majority of our kits and haven't seen any issues with error codes and improperly oiled filters.
Can you ship to California?
As of today, 1/9/26, we cannot ship to California as we are in the process of obtaining CARB compliance. We expect to begin shipping to California in March or April.
