The Banks Ram Air Transmission Pan for 2001-2019 Duramax trucks with Allison 1000 transmission outperforms and outcools the competition by leveraging decades of Ram-Air technology and thermal management expertise honed in racing and military engine development.
Taking advantage of the fast-moving cool air under your truck, the Ram-Air Transmission Pans' Patented design provides forced air cooling as it draws ambient air through the large forward-facing scoop and through the external heat radiation fins.
Unlike competitive designs where the metal of the pan hangs the lowest, the Ram-Air Transmission Pan is engineered so that the lowest point is only the sacrificial front scoop while still providing 2 additional quarts of fluid capacity.
The plastic scoop is also designed to break away without causing damage to your pan, just in case. If this happens to you, let us know and we will send a replacement Ram-Air scoop on the house.

The stock Duramax pan is made from stamped steel which has no internal or external fins to assist in removing heat from the fluid inside.
Without additional means to cool the fluid, it quickly becomes heat soaked with no way to radiate the additional heat load.

All Banks lubrication cooling products are die-cast, not sand-cast like some competitors. Made with far greater precision, a die-cast part is denser, smoother, and has virtually no porosity compared to the equivalent sand-cast part.
Sand-cast parts often retain the sand they were molded with. Sand is an abrasive material that is bad for bearings and cylinder walls. In other words, you don’t want sand in your oil. Finally, our long, thin cooling fins are only possible with a die-cast process. Although this process costs more, it's worth it.

"Banks Ram Air pan was straight forward to install with no issues on my 2019 Chevy 2500HD. I don’t currently tow very heavy, only a 16’ trailer with a Jeep on it. Trip is 11 hours of mostly flat to light hills but wanted the security of the extra transmission cooling. Ok I just like the way it looks. Me and my wife installed it on the driveway in about an hour and a half, taking our time. Look great and kind of wish I got it sooner."

"Shipping took a bit but after a couple phone calls the boys made it happen, I was on my was out of town soon and the pan got to me one day before leaving town towing my 42 foot fifth wheel Montana. Easy install, took 5 extra quarts of transmission fluid, once on the road the temperature difference was 10-15 degrees cooler. Thank you banks for always ingeneering the best diesel truck parts available. I have complete 4 inch exhaust, tuner, cold air next is my differential cover. Thanks again"

"Perfect fit, best quality available. It’s easy to tell plenty of R&D went into the design. And it’s crazy heavy duty. Way thicker material than I was expecting. Plus it’s awesome that I can drain ALL of the fluid now, if I want to do a fluid change without dropping the pan. The factory pan retains about a quart, or more, when using only the drain plug. The ram air scoop is well made too, and much stouter than I expected as well. Another well made, high quality piece from Banks. Haven’t hauled anything heavy yet, but have noticed fluid temps stay low while driving, which tells me the design isn’t just a gimmick. And having extra fluid capacity gives piece of mind that my transmission won’t grenade from lack of oil."
