About This Product
We're bringing forced air cooling to the RAM 68RFE transmission. Using technology from our patented differential covers, the Banks Ram-Air Transmission Pan cools quicker than stock and all competitors. This extends fluid life. An additional three quarts of capacity, a break-away Ram-Air scoop, and Banks FlowThru® Fins aid in cooling. Cooler fluid means a longer-lasting bearings and clutch packs. The design is so innovative, it was awarded a U.S. patent.
Fitment Note
68RFE trucks can be identified easily because the transmission oil dipstick is on the passenger side of the engine bay.
Key Features
- Reduces trans fluid temps, preventing fluid breakdown
- Ram-Air scoop forces air through the cooling fins
- Flow-Thru® Fins create a direct heat path from interior to exterior
- Net effect: highest heat transfer rate in the industry
- Cools quicker than stock and all competitors
- +3 quarts of added fluid capacity for more thermal mass
- Allows full fluid drainage
- Die-cast not sand-cast like competitors
- Breakaway Ram-Air Scoop design prevents pan damage
- Patent No. US 12,313,156 B1
Why It's Better
Engineered To Run Cool
The Banks Ram Air Transmission Pan for 2007.5-2024 RAM trucks with the 68RFE transmission outperforms and outcools the competition by leveraging decades of Ram-Air technology and thermal management expertise honed in racing and military engine development.
Forced Air Cooling
Taking advantage of the fast-moving cool air under your truck, the Ram-Air Transmission Pans' Patented design provides forced air cooling as it draws ambient air through the large forward-facing scoop and through the external heat radiation fins.
Unlike competitive designs where the metal of the pan hangs the lowest, the Ram-Air Transmission Pan is engineered so that the lowest point is only the sacrificial front scoop while still providing 3 additional quarts of fluid capacity.

The plastic scoop is also designed to break away without causing damage to your pan, just in case. If this happens to you, let us know and we will send a replacement Ram-Air scoop on the house.
•1/8" NPT port for easily adding a supplemental temperature sensor.
•22 deep-cut external radiator fins provide more exposed surface area to the cool air moving under the truck.
•20 internal fins absorb more heat from the oil than a standard or all aftermarket pans.
•High temp resistant ferrite magnetic drain plug collect debris at lowest point.
•Die-cast process provides a smoother, less porous interior surface and improves fluid flow in the pan.
The Banks proprietary FlowThru Fins® maximize thermal energy transfer by lining up the internal absorption and external radiator elements with each other.
Transmission heat is efficiently drawn from the fluid, reducing stress on your RAM's cooling and lubrication systems.
Banks vs Stock
The stock 68RFE pan is shallow and made from stamped steel which has no internal or external fins to assist in removing heat from the fluid inside.
Without additional means to cool the fluid, it quickly becomes heat soaked with no way to radiate the additional heat load.
With an additional 3 quart fill capacity and a massive increase in internal and external surface area, transmission heat is efficiently rejected through the casting and back to the cool ambient air under the truck.
Die-Cast vs Sand-Cast
All Banks lubrication cooling products are die-cast, not sand-cast like competitors. Made with far greater precision, a die-cast part is denser, smoother, and has virtually no porosity compared to the equivalent sand-cast part.
Sand-cast parts often retain the sand they were molded with. Sand is an abrasive material that is bad for bearings and cylinder walls. In other words, you don’t want sand in your oil. Finally, our long, thin cooling fins are only possible with a die-cast process. Although this process costs more, it's worth it.
- Internal cooling fins run inline with the drain port with streamlined passageways
- Downward-facing port eases oil change process
- Lower aeration means longer fluid life
- 1/8 NPT port for aux temp sensor
- External heat radiation fin count: 22
- Internal heat absorption fin count: 20
- External heat radiation surface area: 922 in2
- Internal heat absorption surface area: 695 in2
- Fasteners: 15 x stainless steel M6 flange hex bolts
- Material: A380 aluminum diecast with CNC machined surfaces
- High temp resistant Ferrite Magnetic Drain Plug
- Banks recommends Amsoil Synthetic Diesel Oil
- Adds 3 quarts additional capacity(Check OEM Owners Manual)
