Why do you need a Banks PedalMonster? The answer is pretty simple: your throttle pedal sucks. That’s because the engineers at the factory designed it to be that way to appeal to the vast majority of drivers for whom their vehicle is just another appliance. That’s not you though. You want a more responsive engine.
When those factory engineers were figuring out the throttle response curve for your car, there was probably one guy in the room who stood up for a linear, cable-like throttle curve where you put in X amount of pedal travel, you get Y amount of throttle and always at the same ratio. Then the bean counter in the back reminded the engineer that most people are barely paying attention while they drive, so having a sharp, direct throttle would be worse for emissions and fuel economy, among other things.
This is where the PedalMonster comes in. It intercepts the accelerator pedal’s signal to the car and modifies it. This lets us program a huge variety of smooth, responsive throttle curves that suit just about any situation so you, the driver, can select them on the fly via our Banks app or iDash Pro right from your A-pillar.
Are you out on a canyon road and you want a razor-sharp throttle profile? No problem. Dial up Track level 10 and you’re in business. Stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic where that numb factory throttle profile might be a good thing? You can set the PedalMonster back to stock in seconds. Want something in between? You have 148 other available options to choose from.
Why PedalMonster and not Pedal Commander, Sprint Booster, or any other Chinese Facebook/eBay modules that claim to do the same thing? This one is easy too. PedalMonster is the only throttle response controller that integrates with the vehicle’s data network through your onboard diagnostics (OBD) plug. This means that PedalMonster is smart and knows your year, make, model, speed, transmission type and what gear you’re in. That’s important because it can disable itself when you shift to reverse, giving you a nice tame throttle while you’re backing up. Pedal Commander only knows what’s going on at the pedal, so it can’t account for gear selection. In fact, it doesn’t even know what vehicle it’s in.
The differences between Banks and the competition continue with patented features like ActiveSafety that has the PedalMonster safely bypassed if there’s an internal or external failure. The other guys will often leave you with a totally dead pedal in the middle of the road. We also offer a feature called “Tip-In Control” which lets you set a different pedal profile for speeds under 10 mph. This helps reduce jerky starts, which is handy on slick surfaces, and it’s only possible because we are connected to the vehicle’s information network.
PedalMonster is quick and easy to install, available for a huge variety of applications and retails for just $319.
