Most engine covers are never validated near the hottest components in the engine bay.

Banks engineers instrumented the area directly above the EGR cooler and measured real-world temperatures to ensure long-term durability.

As a result, a glass-fiber reinforced composite material was chosen with UL94 V-0 flame-retardant properties, built to withstand heat, oil, fuel, solvents, and years of service.

This blend is capable of maintaining structural integrity to deflection up to 482°F, which is more than 50% greater heat resistance than the factory Cummins cover.

"I was definitely not a fan of the appearance of my engine bay after installing the Ram-Air Intake—especially on the left side. The right side looked great with the Banks Ram-Air Intake, but the left side felt unfinished. Installing the new Banks cover completely changed that. The cover, combined with the outstanding billet oil cap, really enhances the overall look of the engine bay. The integrated airflow vents also appear to provide improved cooling to the area, which is an added benefit. I do miss the silver Banks heat plate from the original setup, but overall the black finish looks fantastic and gives the engine bay a cleaner, more cohesive appearance. Installation was straightforward and fairly easy. One thing to watch out for: I accidentally lost the spacers that go under the metal heat shield during the install, so be careful when removing those components. Overall, this is a great product at a great price. It looks excellent, installs easily, and delivers the top-notch quality and engineering I’ve come to expect from Banks."

Install and Review of Hardware

"What I like about the engine cover is that it: looks great, very functional, works well with my insane Diesel oil bypass filter. I can still change the oil bypass filter without removing the engine cover. What I did not like about it: They should have stayed with the 8mm steel bolt so that you only needed one socket. Now you will need to use a T30 torque as well as 8mm socket. If they would have stayed with the same type of 8mm bolt you could use a magnet to set the one t30 torque into the deep slot on the passenger side quickly. Instead you have to play around with that bolt to much because it is not magnetic. When I changed my CCV filter it was an easy job that could be completed in 25 minutes or less. Now I kinda dread taking off the cover to change the CCV filter because the 30mm bolt is not magnet and uses a torque. It would be easier if I could have used a socket. Ed"
