The new AirMouse Ambient Air Density sensor measures the power potential of air entering all naturally aspirated, turbo, and supercharged engines. The mouse-shaped sensor is a rugged military-grade weather station with scientific accuracy. The water resistant module utilizes a Gor-Tex® vent to allow for precise measurement of pressure, temperature, and humidity while protecting the electronics inside. Data Science You Can Use

The compact sensor mounts in the vehicle’s grill or directly in the air intake system to monitor the characteristics of the available air, which directly impacts engine performance.

How does one apply this data at the racetrack or their daily commute? Take the example of a vehicle that is struggling up a grade or runs slower on one day while running quicker and stronger the next when no changes were made to the car or calibration.

The answer is likely atmospheric conditions – specifically, air density. The data logged by the iDash and AirMouse when compared to the current conditions would help the driver to decide the best time of the day to make a pass or tune specifically for the present weather conditions.

AirMouse Exclusive Parameters Include:

  • Ambient Air Density Mass (lbs of air per 1000 cubic feet)
    The mass of dry air per unit volume of air measured at the location of the sensor. Density is a direct measurement of the oxygen available in the air for combustion and is calculated from the air's temperature, pressure, and humidity. The parameter is divided by 1000 to make the scaling easier to work with. (ex: 76.4 lb/1kft^3 = 0.0765 lb/ft^3).

  • Ambient Air Density % of Standard Day
    Ambient Air Density divided by a standard (either J607 or J1349) to normalize Density Mass to 100% for easier analysis.

  • SAE J607 Correction Factor
    Dyno correction factor to correct HP at varying altitudes and ambient temperature and humidity to a standard (J607 Standard: AAP = 14.7 psia, AAT = 60 F, RH = 0%, AAD = 76.35 lb/1kft^3).

  • SAE J1349 Correction Factor
    Dyno correction factor to correct HP at varying altitudes, ambient temperature and humidity to a standard (J1349 Standard: AAP = 14.35 psia, AAT = 77 F, RH = 0%, AAD = 72.17 lb/1kft^3).

  • Ambient Air Pressure (psia)
    The pressure of the air at the sensor reported in pounds per square inch absolute.

    The density altitude is the altitude relative to standard atmospheric conditions at which the air density would be equal to the indicated air density at the place of observation. In other words, the density altitude is the air density given as a height above mean sea level.

  • Pressure Altitude (ft)
    Pressure altitude is defined as the altitude above or below the standard 29.92" Hg standard datum plane. On a standard day, the pressure at sea level would be 14.7 psia (29.92" hg). For every 1000' of altitude, there is an increase or decrease of about 0.5 psia (1" hg).

"Easily installed, however could not use factory bolt for installing map sensor to spacer as the bolt was too long. I just ground off bolt and it installed without any interference. Still a nice fit and quality product by Mr. Gale Banks and his staff! AirMouse affixed into grill space as it was made specifically for mounting there. Barely even notice it as it does not protrude out beyond face of grill. Very well done, Gale!"

I have a 2016 Ram Ecodiesel with the derringer and pedal monster. If I add this Air mouse to the bus will my tune/performance change based on the inputs of the Air mouse or is this just for data purposes?
The Airmouse is an add ambient weather station for the iDash. It does not change the Derringer tune.
Can it be installed on the hot side of a supercharger? Is there an altitude limitation?
To measure a supercharger outlet, we recommend a thermocouple which withstand far greater temps. AirMouse is designed to mount in the nose of the vehicle or intake ducting so it can measure ambient pressure, temp and humidity. I have a 2016 Ram Ecodiesel with the derringer and pedal monster. If I add this Air mouse to the bus will my tune/performance change based on the inputs of the Air mouse or is this just for data purposes?
The Airmouse is an add ambient weather station for the iDash. It does not change the Derringer tune.
Can it be installed on the hot side of a supercharger? Is there an altitude limitation?

"I have purchased multiple banks products for my 2024 Chevy duramax truck. Oil pan, trans pan, read diff cover, I dash monitor , data monster, boost tubes map sensor relocation pieces , cold air intake, addition monitoring sensors, and of course the derringer tuner. I can honestly say that with each and every addition the truck performs even better. I’m not chasing horsepower numbers, I just want it to tow and drive as good as it can without any issues. Most importantly I want the reliability to be there. Seems as though all brands have some issues, but with the banks products I can at least do all I can to keep it going reliably. Thank you"

AirMouse and Map Sensor Spacer Kit

"Easily installed, however could not use factory bolt for installing map sensor to spacer as the bolt was too long. I just ground off bolt and it installed without any interference. Still a nice fit and quality product by Mr. Gale Banks and his staff! AirMouse affixed into grill space as it was made specifically for mounting there. Barely even notice it as it does not protrude out beyond face of grill. Very well done, Gale!"
