Banks Power

Add Power, Improve Response, Monitor Vehicle

Banks all-new Tuning Bundle for 2020-23 Chevy/GMC Duramax 6.6L includes the Derringer High Output, iDash Data Pro Powertrain Information Center with mobile app, and PedalMonster throttle controller. Derringer High Output adds +117 hp +225 lb-ft with 6 safe power levels adjustable while you drive. The system communicates with the truck's ECM to adjust the tune in real-time, even compensating for altitude. Patented ActiveSafety circuitry protects the engine and transmission. PedalMonster improves acceleration and engine response thanks to its 150 tunable throttle contours with Tip-In Control. Both devices are controlled by Banks iDash Data Pro Powertrain Information Center, the most advanced automotive evaluation tool.

All Banks instruments are warranty friendly. No trace is left behind after removal.

Power Gain

Wheel Horsepower
Wheel Torque

Derringer has 6 power levels, adjustable on-the-fly, with a best gain of +117 hp pushing well above 520 wheel hp to the road. Plus, the massive increase of +225 lb-ft of torque is situated right in the heart of the power band where you need it most.

Level 6 produces best-in-class performance, while Levels 2-4 are optimized for work use with great mid-range feel with a loaded truck or towing a trailer.

Derringer H.O. vs the Competition

Derringer High Output 0-60 vs Pulsar vs Stock

The Derringer High Output outruns the Edge Pulsar, using less fuel and maintaining lower exhaust gas temperatures.

Thanks to the Derringer High Output's more precise tuning between the engine and the transmission, the 0-60 distance is reduced by over half a truck length compared to the Pulsar and almost two full truck lengths over stock. That's a distance of over 35 feet.

High Output Tuned Safely

The Derringer HO maintains 10% cooler EGTs than Pulsar in our repeated tests. You do not want a tuner that adds fuel without additional air. An over-rich tune results in high exhaust temps and increased soot productions.

To maintain peak performance, EGT must be monitored and kept below 1550°F to avoid engine derate. This is when the ECM protects the engine from high temps by reducing fuel injection. In other words, the engine makes less horsepower when you need it the most. Imagine towing up a grade at altitude during the summer. The Banks Derringer-powered truck will outrun the Edge Pulsar truck when its EGTs climb and the ECM withdraws fuel to help cool the engine.

Consistent Power Delivery

The real-world benefits of powerful tuning done safely and reliably really show when you’re hauling a heavy load. At peak power, Derringer HO runs 10% leaner than Pulsar at its peak power, resulting in 6% better fuel economy.

Competitive products have been shown to over-fuel when under load which results in increased heat as well as loading up the diesel particulate filter (DPF) much quicker. The more the DPF is full of soot, the less time the engine will make full power. And, more frequent regens shorten the life of the DPF.

AutoRate® Dynamic Tuning

Diagram of Derringer High Output installation
  • Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) — Monitors EGT and intelligently modulates fueling to maintain a safe maximum EGT, protecting your turbo and engine.
  • Altitude compensation — Senses ambient air pressure, controlling the turbocharger to maintain power as altitude increases.
  • Coolant Temperature Monitoring — Maintains safe power based on coolant temp.
Derringer does not add power below 160°F or above 240°F
  • Full Power Timer — Allows for 30 seconds of wide-open throttle before transitioning to the recommended power level for sustained tow/haul.

ActiveSafety® Health Monitoring

Banks combines mechanical fail-safe measures to revert to stock in the event of internal failure while also intelligently adding power based on vehicle operating conditions such as cold or hot coolant temps or knock from bad fuel.
ActiveSafety illustration

Derringer is the only tuner available with Active Safety® health monitoring circuitry:

  • Internal diagnostics checks system 100 times per second
  • Checks MAP and FRP signals and monitors CPU activity
  • Activates in event of failure or loss of 12-volt power
  • Bypass relays smoothly return stock power with no loss of power or "Limp Mode"

TransCommand® Active Transmission Safety System

Closeup of transmission internals

Derringer High Output is calibrated to modulate power during shifts for better clutch engagement. Thanks to its OBD connectivity, Derringer knows when the GM/Allison 10-speed transmission is shifting gears. It reduces its added power momentarily to allow for a smooth shift. Competitive tuners have no idea or simply ignore when the transmission is shifting and continue to add power, overspeeding the transmission and causing long-term damage.

  • Intelligent Shift Tuning — Gear shifts are optimized for each power level to protect the transmission and increase shift speed while protecting against torque converter and clutch slip.
  • Accelerator Pedal Monitoring — Rolls in additional power progressively, optimizing for both part-throttle fuel economy and maximum power when you want it.

Includes iDash Powertrain Information Center

Derringer includes iDash Pro, the most advanced iDash ever. The iDash Pro Powertrain Information Center is a microcomputer that allows you to monitor and record what’s actually going on under your hood, as well as control Derringer, PedalMonster, and more. The compact device blows away the capabilities of any OBD plug-in diagnostic device and offers more functionality than instruments 5X the price.

Progress Through Evolution

The iDash Pro builds upon the foundation of the iDash Classic and adds improvements including a new high-res screen, wireless updates, expanded internal memory, 25% faster data logging, as well as 6 direct-connect external sensor inputs and additional features coming soon.

Total Throttle Control

Unlike conventional cable throttles, where your pedal is directly attached to the engine’s butterfly valve, electronic accelerator pedals are not mapped linearly. Part throttle drivability is often dampened as a means to stretch fuel economy, giving a mushy and unresponsive feel when on the road.

We spent months engineering smooth pedal contours that are a pleasure to drive. Others like Pedal Commander, have crude steps, making your pedal feel like an on-off switch. Your transmission responds by hunting for gears.

Choose Your Control

PedalMonster can be used as a stand-alone device, controled by Banks' free mobile app for a stealthy install.

There are dozens of throttle controllers on the market, like Pedal Commander, Sprint Booster, iDrive, just to name a few. Each of them claims to be the most ADVANCED. As you see below thanks to its OBD-II connectivity and patented safety features, no throttle controller compares to Banks’ patented PedalMonster.

Tune Your Sensitivity

Select from PedalMonster's 3 driving environments with a total of 150 unique throttle contours and tune out your pedal's dead spot.

City: Provides a smooth driving experience with a linear throttle feel and is tuned for daily driving.

Sport: Adds more sensetivity in the throttles midrange for a sportier throttle contour feel.

Track: Lets you get into your power sooner with less throttle input, helping push through turbo spool lag or delay.

OBD-II Connectivity Brings Safety

PedalMonster is the ONLY throttle sensitivity controller connected via the vehicle's +12 volt OBD-II port to read vehicle data. This reliable power connection and vehicle information is used to provide smooth pedal response and enhanced safety features.

Other 'Boost Commanders' draw power from the accelerator pedal circuit itself, potentially overloading the circuit and leading to a dead pedal and an inoperable engine.

Every other throttle controller device has no clue what vehicle you are in, how fast you are going, and is unable to adapt dynamically to driving conditions.
