Even with the updated stock power figures for the 24+ models, Derringer puts down a best gain of +86 hp, pushing near 520 wheel hp to the road. Plus, the massive increase of +178 Ib-ft of torque is situated right in the heart of the power band where you need it most.

Power for every situation

Derringer features 6 power levels, each with a calibration engineered for a specific task. Unlike other tuners, you can change Derringer’s power levels as you drive, using the iDash Pro itself, or the Banks mobile app.

  • Level 1 — stock
  • Level 2 — fuel economy*
  • Levels 3-4 — work and heavy towing
  • Levels 5-6 — max power

All levels are safe to tow thanks to Derringer’s real-time monitoring of exhaust gas and coolant temperatures, transmission slip, and other data points.

*Fuel economy varies based on driving habits and payload.

Boost Control Where You Need It

Derringer provides a huge increase in torque across the working range of the engine between 2200 and 2800 RPM. We accomplish this by controlling midrange boost. Look at the yellow zone. Mid-range boost equals mid-range torque.
Chart showing the added boost used in the Derringer HO

We’ve built 26,000 JLTV engines for the U.S. Army using the same tuning approach that we’re now applying to your Duramax. The midrange is where you work your truck.

Power You Can Use

Most interstate onramps are about 1,100 feet. This means you have only 1,100 feet to reach 70 mph. And, the heavier you tow, the harder this becomes. We loaded a Tacoma into a trailer and hitched it to our ‘24 Duramax. Gross vehicle weight was 20,065 pounds. The stock ‘24 Duramax took 1,279 feet to reach 70 mph. With the Derringer set to level 6 (max power), the rig reached 70 mph in just 1,085 feet. The Derringer-tuned truck hit 70 mph 194 feet sooner than stock. It was safely merging with semis while the stock truck was still accelerating past the merging zone, fighting semis for a lane.

Passing Power

Derringer's added power becomes even more pronounced when passing up a grade, while towing. Passing on the highway with a 20,065 lb GVW rig up a 7% grade, Derringer rocketed the truck from 45 mph to 70 mph a full 8.5 seconds quicker than stock.

Pushing on to 75 mph, the stock tune runs out of steam on the top end while Derringer continues to pull strong. The gap between stock and Banks widens to a full 12.41 seconds and nearly a quarter mile of separation.

AutoRate® Dynamic Tuning

Diagram of Derringer High Output installation with iDash Pro
  • Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) — Monitors EGT and intelligently modulates fueling to maintain a safe maximum EGT, protecting your turbo and engine.
  • Altitude compensation — Senses ambient air pressure, controlling the turbocharger to maintain power as altitude increases.
  • Coolant Temperature Monitoring — Maintains safe power based on coolant temp.
Derringer does not add power below 160°F or above 240°F
  • Full Power Timer — Allows for 30 seconds of wide-open throttle before transitioning to the recommended power level for sustained tow/haul.

ActiveSafety® Health Monitoring

Banks combines mechanical fail-safe measures to revert to stock in the event of internal failure while also intelligently adding power based on vehicle operating conditions, such as cold or hot coolant temps or knock from bad fuel.
ActiveSafety illustration

Derringer is the only tuner available with Active Safety® health monitoring circuitry:

  • Internal diagnostics checks the system 100 times per second
  • Checks MAP and FRP signals and monitors CPU activity
  • Activates in the event of failure or loss of 12-volt power
  • Bypass relays smoothly return stock power with no loss of power or "Limp Mode"

TransCommand® Active Transmission Safety System

Closeup of transmission internals

Derringer High Output is calibrated to modulate power during shifts for better clutch engagement. Thanks to its OBD connectivity, Derringer knows when the GM/Allison 10-speed transmission is shifting gears. It reduces its added power momentarily to allow for a smooth shift. Competitive tuners have no idea or simply ignore when the transmission is shifting and continue to add power, overspeeding the transmission and causing long-term damage.

  • Intelligent Shift Tuning — Gear shifts are optimized for each power level to protect the transmission and increase shift speed while protecting against torque converter and clutch slip.
  • Accelerator Pedal Monitoring — Rolls in additional power progressively, optimizing for both part-throttle fuel economy and maximum power when you want it.

Includes iDash Powertrain Information Center

Derringer includes iDash Pro, the most advanced iDash ever. The iDash Pro Powertrain Information Center is a microcomputer that allows you to monitor and record what’s actually going on under your hood, as well as control Derringer, PedalMonster, and more. The compact device blows away the capabilities of any OBD plug-in diagnostic device and offers more functionality than instruments 5X the price.

About This Product

The Banks Derringer High Output is designed for those who work their 2024-2026 Duramax 6.6L trucks. The system provides a massive increase in torque across the working RPM range of the engine. Merging, passing and uphill climbs while towing are easier than ever. Choose from 6 power levels as you drive, including fuel economy calibrations, work, and max power. Derringer communicates with the truck's ECM to adjust the tune in real-time, even compensating for altitude. ActiveSafety circuitry protects the engine and transmission. Derringer is controlled by the all-new iDash Pro Powertrain Information Center with Bluetooth mobile app. Best of all, it's warranty friendly. After removal, there's no trace left behind. 50-state emissions compliant.

Specifications

Results in torque and power gains across the full operating rpm range, starting right off idle and marching to the shift point in each gear. Derringer is dyno calibrated to use multiple data inputs such as throttle position, rpm, vehicle speed, AFR, knock, coolant temperature, and EGT, just like your engine's ECM. It actively and safely optimizes calibrations in real-time thanks to its OBD-II connectivity. No competitive tuner does that.

Derringer has 6 levels, adjustable on-the-fly using the iDash. Level 6 produces best-in-class performance. Level 3 is designed for work use and has a great mid-range feel. When running Level 3 with a loaded truck and/or pulling a trailer, your on-ramp merging speeds and passing times are greatly improved.

The electronics are enclosed in a compact housing which is easily concealed and communicates with other Banks devices such as our iDash Pro, iDash Data Pro, and PedalMonster throttle booster. The Derringer connects in line with your truck's engine sensors. But unlike other tuners, it also connects to the vehicle's OBD-II diagnostic bus.

ActiveSafety health monitoring circuitry keeps an eye on the vehicle and the module itself. It checks its health 100 times a second. If it detects an issue, the Derringer instantly bypasses itself, sets a device diagnostic code, and seamlessly returns the truck to stock power. Plus, Derringer's special coolant temp monitoring prevents power addition when the engine is too cold or overheated. The Derringer also auto-adjusts power if knock occurs due to bad fuel. Maximum safe power is all automatic with a Derringer — you just choose your preferred power level and enjoy the ride.

Definitely would recommend this, my

"Definitely would recommend this, my truck is totally different, and those tunes. Really Banks you totally outdone yourselves. Great product."

Fernando S. (5/5)

Love this upgrade

"I thought my truck was fun and powerful before but now it’s night and day when towing my heavy trailers. I have a 2026 GMC Sierra 3500 work truck pro and Man did this Daringer really make my truck wake up. The Derringer and pedal monster combination are really amazing. In the spring, I plan on putting on my oil pan and rear diff cover from Banks as well. Can’t wait for them to release a 5 inch exhaust for this truck."

Timothy D. (5/5)

Highly recommended

"Install was not difficult. Just follow the well written instructions. As others mentioned it certainly wakes the truck up. Combining the Derringer with the pedal monster is a great combination. Just find the right combined settings for you driving style and you will not regret purchasing. I have made several trips and checked the fuel mileage manually before and after the install. There is a small improvement in some driving situations but given the significant increase in power I am pleasantly surprised there has been no decrease in fuel mileage even on the the higher levels. If you are looking for fuel mileage gains you will be disappointed but if you are looking for more power and making the truck more fun to drive you will be very pleased with this purchase. There are no negatives in my opinion."

Thomas W. (5/5)

Derringer High Output is Definitely worth buying !

"My truck seems like a totally different truck ! With the Derringer you can feel the power difference when accelerating especially at Level 5 & 6. The App allows easy customizing of layout/colors also. The kit is simple to install, easy to work with. The wire harness fits with no problems. Very well made kit like all the Banks products. I love my truck even more now as if that was possible !"

Jorge L. (5/5)

2026 2500 HD ZR2 Tuning Bundle

"I purchased the tuning bundle with the IDash Data Pro and it is truly an incredible product. Install was straightforward, instructions were clear and the results speak for themselves. I have seen 1. 5 to 2mpg better fuel economy than stock towing a small 4x8 trailer on setting #6 on the Derringer. If you want to solve the dead pedal, the pedal monster works and feels great on the top half of the City setting. Seriously consider this. The power and response are great and it will pay for itself in saved fuel."

Chris M. (5/5)

Worth Every Penny!

"The install was really easy with the provided instructions and videos. The only tricky part was reaching the injector plug, but it just took some patience. Overall, the install was a piece of cake. I originally was planning on only purchasing the iDash Pro to monitor DPF ranges for regen and manually regen when on longer trips. I’m glad that I bought the Derringer and Pedal Monster in the bundle package. The performance increase is huge!"

Nicholas G. (5/5)

Very surprised!

"Wasn’t expecting much, but Banks bundle on my 24 GMC 2500 HD has really made it feel alive, better mpg (not that I wanted it), better pedal response, and you can hear the turbo from the new intake and hot and cold side pipes. I recommend to do it all at once so you can truly wake up the 6. 6 Duramax engine !!!"

Charles S. (5/5)

Steps to improving my 2026 denali ultimate 3500

"I recieved my New IDash Pro Powertrain Information Center And PedalMonster Throttle Controller. Also my Derringer and relocation for my map sensor. Unfortunately I'm at the mercy of mother nature and haven't been able to install them yet. Now looking to add the boost tubes and monster-ram turbo inlet elbo with cold air intake next. Very impress with the quality of of products."

James H. (5/5)

Best products!!!!!

"I have never had an issue with Banks Power products. On my third truck and outfitting it with everything Banks Power has to offer."

Bryan G. (5/5)

Pretty Easy Install and Great output

"I installed the Banks Derringer with iDash on my 2020 L5P Duramax (emissions intact), and the overall experience was excellent. The install took a little over an hour, and I used the required 15-minute cool-off period to dismantle the driver area as instructed, which made everything efficient and straightforward. The instructions were fantastic—clear, well-sequenced, and clearly written by people who actually wrench on these trucks. Hardware quality is top-tier, with OEM-level connectors and a pod mount that looks factory once installed. Power delivery is smooth and controlled, especially on lower levels for towing, with improved throttle response. The iDash is the standout feature, giving real-time visibility into EGT, boost, MAP, fuel rail pressure, power level, and CEL diagnostics. This isn’t a CEL eraser, but it provides transparency and confidence by showing exactly what the truck is doing. Overall, Banks delivers engineered, reliability-focused performance that prioritizes longevity as much as power"

Q&A

What level of fuel economy (%) is achievable with the eco map vs. stock? It surely varies from applications to applications and driving conditions, but what can I expect generally speaking?
You will see a noticeable difference in milage, however it varies from vehicle, location, driving style, environment, and many other factors to accurately give a percentage.
I have a pedal monster and idash data monster in my 2024 3500 HD with the L5P. I am interested in the new Derringer but it all says you need the new PRO idash. Is the Derringer comparable with older idash or do I have to replace my idash that is only about a year old? Keep up the great work. Thanks.
The iDash classics do not carry the firmware to properly run and display the data for the 2024+ Duramax trucks. Our new iDash Pro is path forward for data and the Derringer for 2024+ L5P Duramax trucks. Our engineering team tried for months to get iDash "classic" to accept all the new changes that we've been trying to make for the 2024+ but it would not jive. I just purchased a pedal monster for my 2024 Duramax and had one in my 2020 as well. Is there an anticipated release date for the Derringer? Thanks!
We're doing everything we can to have the new Derringer tuner for the '24 Duramax available in May.
Will this remove the speed limit governed at 98 mph?
No, Derringer will not remove a speed governor. That feature must be turned off with a flash program.
Can you recalibrate speedometer for larger tire sizes
No, Derringer does not offer that feature.
