A True Monster Of A RAM

The all new Monster-Ram® intake for the 6.7L Cummins in your Ram lives up to its name. It is an absolute MONSTER. We pulled out all the stops when developing it.

Your Cummins engine struggles to breathe through its tiny, squashed stock inlet which causes boost loss at the same flow, while the Banks Monster-Ram® has a wide, unrestricted free-flowing path.

Stock versus Banks
Banks Monster-Ram intake manifold

The Monster-Ram® offers unparalleled airflow thanks to its custom-engineered fuel line.

All this without the need for tuning while being 50-state compliant.

Trusted by Tens of Thousands of RAM Owners

Since its debut in 2017, tens of thousands of RAM owners throughout the US and Canada have installed a Monster-Ram to prevent factory grid failure while enjoying quicker throttle response, improved fuel economy, and better drivability.

But performance means nothing without reliability

That's why Monster-Ram is engineered and tested to OEM-level standards. Every part in the Monster-Ram kit, including the proprietary fuel line, is covered by the Banks Limited Lifetime Warranty.

What It Does

The Monster-Ram® improves airflow from the intercooler. It flows 72.7 lbs/min with Banks’ New Coil Heater and High-Flow Cast Intake Plate compared to stock's 38.6 lbs/min MAF. That is a huge 88.3% improvement over stock you can feel!

The proprietary design raises boost without increasing back-pressure at the turbine. The result is improved engine response, efficiency, and headroom for daily driving and heavy hauling.

Chart of Flow versus Pressure Drop

It's All About
Mass Air Flow

The secret to the Monster-Ram®'s performance is not just airflow, but the quality and weight of the air it flows. Your Cummins engine is limited in the volume of air it can flow through its 6 cylinders even at max RPM.

By increasing the mass of the air delivered to each cylinder, your stock-tuned engine will breathe more efficiently with less stress, and set the stage for power gains when stacked with a tune.

Cold Start Test Criteria

We followed RAM's cold start recommendations. Per the owner’s manual, RAM recommends the use of the block heater when the temperature drops below 0°F/-17°C and mandates the block heater at temperatures below -20°F/-29°C.

Using a controlled climate chamber, our first test utilized block heat and two Banks coil heaters (1500 watts total). The Monster-Ram® enabled our test truck to cold start down to -30°F/-34°C.

Against RAM’s recommendations, we also attempted to cold start with the same two coil heaters and no block heat. We were able to cold start down to -20°F/-29°C. Adding a third coil heater (2,250 watts total), the truck started at -30°F/-34°C.*

Cold Start Test Results

All tests were performed with two intake air pre-heat cycles per the owner’s manual. Intake air temperature is just one factor contributing to a successful cold start. Individual results may vary depending on your vehicle’s age and overall condition.

Prevents Broken Bolt Engine Failure

Cummins Ticking Time Bomb

Due to heat, vibration, and time, a stud and nut from the factory heater grid have been documented to come loose and fall into the intake manifold. Thanks to the engine's 5° rake, the broken bolt rolls downhill into cylinder #6, causing catastrophic failure that requires a complete engine rebuild or replacement from bent valves, damaged pistons, and head.

The Competition Cheaps Out

Don’t be fooled by band-aids claiming to prevent grid heater failure. BD’s Killer Grid Heater kit is a temporary fix that leave RAM owners with a false sense of security and a fastener held in by nothing more than liquid thread locker.

Leaving Stock Heater
Chokes Performance

And, while you’re waiting for the BD screw to arc, melt, and fall into the intake manifold, the stock grid heater collects more soot and reduces airflow. Banks Monster-Ram® eliminates the grid heater. There’s nothing to fail or collect soot.

Reviews

Peace of mind

"My bolt was still tight when I removed the grid heater but the peace of mind that it won’t be able to destroy my engine was reason enough to upgrade to the Banks monster ram. Install was pretty straightforward and can be done by anyone mechanically inclined and attention to details. I swear it added some additional power but I can’t be sure. I soon after added the pedal monster and iDash which really woke up throttle input."

Robert B. (5/5)

Monster RAM

"Took a little time to install. Instructions were awesome for the installation. Throttle response and acceleration seem to be better. Most of all the upgrade to eliminate the heating grid nut falling off into the cylinder."

Jay B. (5/5)

Great improvement

"I am a snowbird was south for the winter. Found Dave Auto in Utah and watched his video on the grid heater failure. I made an appointment at your Banks shop in California just before my trip home to Vernon BC, Canada. The improvement in boost from 15 to 30lbs. Made climb hills with 14,000 lb 5 wheel much easier. I also notice exhaust temperature was 100 degrees cooler. Plan to do the transmission pan and differential cover before my trip south this year. Dave"

David F. (5/5)

Must do upgrade

"Noticeable difference inhale response. The engine feels livelier through out the rev range. I opted for the multiple heater probes and have not had any cold start issues. Not terribly difficult to install. I also feel much better knowing I no longer have the bit of damoclese hanging over my engine waiting to cost me 15k (grid heater bolt, you tube it if you don’t know). Instructions provided were excellent, and you get a cool banks badge to put on your truck 15 out of 10 would recommend."

seth b. (5/5)

Monster relief

"Don’t let anyone talk you out of using Banks or convince you that the grid heater isn’t an issue. My neighbor had a ’22 Big Horn with 177K miles and dropped a bolt from the grid heater, which ended up killing his engine. I have a ’22 Laramie with 77K miles, and I’m relieved that I don’t have to worry about the grid heater issue anymore. I’m also happy that the grid heater itself is gone and that there’s more room for airflow, which should help reduce soot buildup. I’m not a mechanic by any means, but the installation was simple. Banks provided step-by-step instructions, and their customer support was there if I had any questions. The intake looks beautiful, too. I went with the red one, and it looks great under the hood. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the upgrade and, most importantly, I have peace of mind knowing I don’t have to worry about the grid heater anymore."

Robbie H. (5/5)

Glad I installed it!

"As a retired diesel mechanic, I know first hand how much catastrophic repairs can cost. That's why I had to get rid of that nonsensical grid heater. Perhaps I paid a bit more than other replacement kits, but I trust the Banks brand and the engineering and testing to back it up."

Mark P. (5/5)

2016 ram 2500 6. 7 Cummins

"Best thing I have done on my 6. 7 cummins. I wasn't aware of the grid heater issue until I saw a video from Dave's Auto on a blown motor. I went and had a Monster Ram installed shortly after. 100% worth the investment and not having to worry if you are going to need a motor or not. I live in cold country and look forward to seeing the improvement over stock on the duel heat model."

MATT I. (5/5)

Monster Ram

"I bought the red one so it would stand out. Installation was easy every lined up and fit perfect. No issues whatsoever. As for the rear fuel rail sensor I left plugged in and just moved rail aside. They break easy."

Scottie V. (5/5)

I am super glad I

"I am super glad I did this replacement for the heater bolt delete. The only downside that I see is I replaced that small little nut from dropping into my engine for a huge bolt that has to be put on the inside of the horn with a magnet into a now large wide open opening directly into the motors. Little suggestion, do a long bolt instead of having the chance of a bolt back out (which I bet you will say, no chance of that happening, but don’t count on us Murphys law type folks). Other than that, the delete is great."

Raymond E. (4/5)

Awesome upgrade

"Big difference sound mean and fell it too. . so pleased with this upgrade"

Q&A

Hi. I have a general question about my banks intake system on my 2014 ram 3500. I installed the intake about 2 weeks ago and everything has been fine except for the cold starts. Along with buying the intake I got the dual heater upgrade as I live in Alberta and our winters are extremely cold. The cold starts on my truck after installing have been extremely rough (sounds choppy) I have ensured all the bolts and nuts have been tightened correctly on the heating elements. When I use a multimeter the volts are showing 11.5 when key is turned on and the relay sends the power to the elements. If you have any ideas please let me know! Or ways to troubleshoot! Thanks a bunch!
The standard heater coil should allow cold starts down to 0 and 020'F with a block heater, but give us a call or text and we'll set you up with a technician.
Is the Monster ram still compatible if my 2016 Ram 2500 is already got a EGR, DEF delete?
The Monster-Ram is designed to work with existing emmisions equiptment, however it will also work great in other configuations. Although we can't endorse use outside of stock environments.
Just curious does your company offer veteran or military discount?
Yes, we happily support our armed services and first responders. Please see this page. https://bankspower.com/pages/military-firstresponder-discount
Is there an email address at Banks that I can get in touch with? Ordered a 2019 kit for a Ram that was registered as 2019 but is 2018. I'm in Iceland and can't call and just need to buy the right fuel line for the kit. Thanks!
You can email us at askgale@bankspower.com
does the monster ram i had installed put out 750 watt coil heat without doing anything else to it ?
A single Heater coil outputs 750W
